The Program

The program expects students to complete a total of 18 subjects before reaching the full member (CMA) status. Having completed the 16 subjects at graduate level one must gain the necessary work experience and follow two more advance subjects at strategic level before applying for CMA status.

Graduate Management Accountant Status( 16 subjects)

This is a graduate level qualification an certain exemptions are available for University Graduates and Members of other professional bodies

Certified Management Accountant Status( 2 subjects)

This is the post graduate level qualification. Successfully completing the two subjects is compulsory for anybody applying for CMA status

Paper 1: Advance Management Accounting
Paper 2: Advance Strategic Management Accounting

 

The Graduate Conversion Program

University graduates or qualified members of recognized professional institutes without an accounting background have the opportunity of joining the graduate conversion program of ICMA without going through the entire process of completing 18 subjects.

Those without an accounting background, who are nevertheless interested in obtaining a professional qualification in the area, are able to undertake the CMA program after completing a 'conversion' program’ which involve 4 coursework modules. Those with a recognized Accounting Qualification can apply directly for the GMA status of the Institute.

 

CMA Program

Member of recognized professional accounting bodies or accounting graduates from recognized Universities who wish to obtain CMA certification can participate directly in the CMA program, which cover the two advanced subjects, 'Advanced Management Accounting' and 'Advanced Strategic Management Accounting'. The GMA status holders can also participate in the CMA program after gaining 2 years of related work experience acceptable to the institute.
