ICMA offers seven levels of membership with differing education and experience requirements:
CMA - Certified Management Accountant
- Degree from a recognised university or Professional Qualification in Accounting or completion of GMA program (stage 4) and completion of CMA units with 5 years of relevant experience
AMA - Associate Management Accountant
- Degree from a recognised university or Professional Qualification in Accounting or completion of GMA program (stage 4) with 3 years relevant experience
GMA - Graduate Management Accountant
- Degree from a recognised university or Professional Qualification in Accounting or completion of GMA program (Stage 4)
RBA - Registered Business Accountant
- Advanced Diploma in Accounting or 3 Stages of a Professional Qualification in Accounting or completion of Stage 3 of the ICMA’s Graduate program
RCA - Registered Cost Accountant
- Diploma in Accounting from a recognised Technical College (TAFE) or 2 Stages of a Professional Qualification in Accounting or completion of Stage 2 of the ICMA’s Graduate program
CAT - Certified Accounting Technician
- Certificate in Accounting from a recognised Technical College (TAFE) or the Foundation Stage of a Professional Qualification in Accounting or completion of Stage 1 of the ICMA’s Graduate program
MAA - Management Accounting Affiliate
- Open Entry for those interested in the field of Management Accountancy
* Relevant experience in management accounting is broadly defined to include the gaining of experience in the provision of information in a wide range of managerial functions including costing, pricing, marketing, strategy, financial analysis, logistics, information systems, etc.
